Fantasia Gifts

For this post, we bring you another great shopping location in our Bookstore Series. The series points out where to buy books, both educational and for leisure, around Walt Disney World.

Fantasia Gifts is located on the fourth floor of the Contemporary Resort. Much of the shop is dedicated to toys, games, and tech accessories. But there is a rather large selection of books as well. Adults only have a few choices, but this shop is great for kids who are avid or emerging readers.

We would recommend this title in particular: My Walt Disney World Travels. This is a great journal that kids (or kids at heart) can use to record their Disney memories. Pages include prompts and sentence starters, as well as areas to draw or doodle for writers who are more visual or don’t yet have refined writing skills. There are also pockets to store keepsakes. And there is enough space to reuse the journal on future visits.

Using a journal is a great way for kids to practice their writing skills and this one is fun and user-friendly. It’s a good choice for reluctant writers who might need some guidance. We’ve seen this journal in several gift shops around Walt Disney World, but Fantasia Gifts at the Contemporary was the first place we saw it.

Serka Zong Bazaar

We continue our Bookstore Series, pointing out where to buy books, both educational and for leisure, around Walt Disney World.

The Serka Zong Bazaar is located just outside of Expedition Everest. If you dare to take the train ride up Mount Everest, you conveniently end up exiting right into the Bazaar. This is actually a great gift shop. Of course you can find all manner of fun yeti plush and Disney-themed merchandise. But you can also purchase unique handcrafted gifts and accessories from Nepal that helps support local artisans there.

Serka Zong1Be sure to check out the corner that is dedicated to books. You’ll find good reads, both fiction and nonfiction, for adults and children. Adult books include some fascinating and inspirational first-hand accounts from Everest climbers. Kids’ books include terrific National Geographic picture books, titles about saving snow leopards, and even a classic Choose Your Own Adventure!

There is usually a great selection of books here ranging from cookbooks, art books, Disney history, and Ridley Pearson’s full collection of Kingdom Keepers titles. Kids of all ages can also check out the selection of How-to-Draw books to learn how to draw popular Disney characters.

The store connects to Art of Disney and Disney Design-a-Tee, which both offer some fun interactive stations to top off your shopping experience.

The Writer’s Stop

This is the first listing in our Bookstore Series. These posts point out where to buy books, both educational and for leisure, around Walt Disney World.

The Writer’s Stop is located in Hollywood Studios at the Streets of America, just at the corner of Commissary Lane. This bookstore and coffee shop is a great spot to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the park. Grab a coffee, peruse the books, or catch up on movie and TV previews in one of the comfy seating areas.

Writers Stop Writers Stop2

The selection of books here is pretty wide. You’ll find everything from contemporary beach reads and biographies to art books and Disney history. Even some of the décor takes after 1940s-era dime store novellas. There is also a small collection of children’s books for little ones in your group.

And note that certain authors, like Ridley Pearson, have made appearances at this location for book signings. So be on the lookout via official Disney media channels for more in the future!
